PostSubject: The Dance of Kings [PLOT/Open to all]   The Dance of Kings [PLOT/Open to all] EmptyFri Jun 28, 2013 7:18 pm

The palace that could be seen for miles was bright in the night sky. The palace was illuminated by hundreds of lights that was on at one time. The dark purple sky above didn’t have a cloud to be seen, and the moon was full. The palace itself was pure white with gold trimming all around the it and it was big enough to be a city of its own. Inside this luxurious palace was filled with expensive vases and the paintings made by the world’s greatest artists from the past and present. The main hallway had a long velvet rug that stretched from the front door, to a pair of white stairs. Theses stairs led to a pair of gold doors, which in turn led to the ballroom which was filled with dozens of people. These people included politicians, celebrities, royalty, and even soldiers of all ranks. Most of these people were decorated with their most expensive jewelry to show what kind of power they had, or rather, the power they thought they had. The ballroom was filled with high end decorations which included a table made of African Blackwood which was used to hold all of the drinks and food for the ball. Up above the visitors hung a giant chandelier that had enough lights on it to keep the ballroom bright. Henry had yet to make an appearance at the ball he was hosting, he was waiting until everyone showed up before he did his opening speech.

Oscar was in two minds about his attendance to this gathering. On the one hand, it was just chance. his completion time of the Graduation physical exam was the best in the Bases history to date, so he was a private, in among socalites and nobles.
He was half expecting one or two of them to look down their noses at him. Considering he was in his dress uniform, that being the more regal looking outfit he now owned. the lack of medals was apparent, though he was thankful for his Pilot badge, to give the outfit a slightly better look to it.

He held a glass of whiskey in one hand, his other tucked into his jacket while surveying the area. His sargeant was nearby, talking with a few generals about his record and other mundane admin matters. You'd hardly thing a war had been brewing for years now, with the sense of normality the room gave him. He sighed and sipped his drink slowly, now simply waiting for the emperor to speak, he was sure that any functions held in this place would have him talk at least once. it was per his station after all. address the nobles and tell them how great the empire was, how weak the other two were and that they were the greatest.

Oscar did indeed believe that Britannia was the greatest, but not because of it's nobles, but for it's soldiers. A bias opinion to be sure, but one he did believe. Oscar repected power and most of these nobles didn't have it, not real power, just a title to hold over everyone.

This type of activity was not something Rave was opposed to normally but for the very fact that it would be including nobles and the like, he was skeptical about whether he really needed to attend or not. But with the bribery of food and drink that nobles commonly partook in, his attendance in this gathering was certain. Even with his guaranteed attendance, he still arrived late, as he had fallen asleep earlier and forgot that he needed to attend.

Walking through the golden entryway, something that personally surprised him, the male wore his usual attire, he didn't care about the ones attending his attire would only change for special occasions, that registered as special to him. His boots were fully tied as he wore a multi-colored green camo pants, the bottoms tucked into his boots. A white shirt along with his Britannia coat over it, the sleeves of his coat being rolled up to about before or at the elbow.

As he stepped into the ballroom, he released a yawn and surveyed the area, just to get a good look at who all decided to join in on this little party. The usual nobles, government officials, some officers, just about all Rave expected. With his hands in his pockets, he made his way to the table which hosted the alcoholic beverages. Grabbing one, not knowing which drink he picked up, he leaned against the table wondering why this meeting of the one's who ruled this nation was occurring.

During his attempt to avoid being dragged into conversations with some of the nobility, Oscar made his way to the large table holding all the food, he picked up a new drink. He sniffed at it, assuming it was a wine of some kind and shrugged, thankful he didn't have to pay for this 'fine dining'.

He sipped and turned to lean on the table, noticing a man who didn't fit in with the rest of the gathered men and women. He seemed to be in the same mind of his own, not really wanting to be here, but accepting the free items on offer.

He moved up the table closer to him, glass in one hand, his other tucked behind his back.
"Good evening, may I ask as to your name? I assume you're not of their ilk, considering your outfit..." He said, horrible at starting conversations but hey, it was something.

PostSubject: Re: The Dance of Kings [PLOT/Open to all]   The Dance of Kings [PLOT/Open to all] EmptySat Jun 29, 2013 9:28 pm

Rave's position didn't move in the slightest as he took a small sip of his drink to gain the initial taste, mainly because he didn't know what he was drinking. Learning from the taste that it wasn't to strong nor light, his sips became larger as he started to consume the drink slowly. He wasn't much of a drinker himself, but the genes of his mother's side of the family would prove to ease the thoughts of him being a lightweight when it came to matters of alcohol.

As people talked among themselves Rave noticed an approaching man but paid him no mind, as like most people, Rave assumed he was just coming over for the food and the like. Looking at the man through the corner of his eye, it wasn't hard to guess he was a solider but from the way he was dressed, he was probably more into these sort of things while Rave was not. What happened next was actually a little surprising to him but he was going to go along with it.

I'm Rave Kugeki. And your right, I'm a solider, here only on the suggestion of a commander.

He said taking another sip of his drink before setting the glass on the table he was leaning against, then looking at the person he was starting a conversation with. He was indeed a solider like him simply from his presence and the good look at his outfit that Rave finally obtained. Since Rave has revealed his name it was time for this person to reveal there's, its only common courtesy.

So what is your name? It is only fair that you tell me yours since I gave you mind.

"A pleasure to meet another soldier, even if it is an enviroment such as this." He replied, turning to lean against the table, next to Rave.

"My name is Oscar Hemsworth, recently made a private for the army. I got invited along because I broke the record for the graduation's physical exam. He admitted, sipping his drink before setting the drink down.

"Heh, my father always wanted to visit the imperial palace, if he could see me now he'd be green with envy. But I've rambled on enough, and I'm curious, your name doesn't strike me as... native, from what nation did your family line come from? if I may be so bold in asking?"

He wasn't that common of a solider after all. Well he was, considering that he recently became a solider, but wasn't due to the results he had obtained. But from Rave's experiences, simple things such as tests mean nothing in real combat. This is not to say that he didn't gain a high score on the same exam but he has plenty of combat experience from growing up to back all of it up.

Nice job beating the record.

He said listening to the man's next statement. Rave's main focus of that statement was that about his family. It was true, nobody from Rave's family has ever joined the military and the only real reason for his joining was to get bigger battles, so it was no surprise that people from well known families wouldn't know anything about his. Not like it was something he really hid his background from anybody, if they would ask he would be happy to tell.

No I was born in this country. My family is middle class so heir name is not that known. Now if you went to the slums, you would hear my family's name going around. Me and my cousins used to get rowdy down there.

His mind started to wander to back to his youth. It mainly consisted about battle and more battle, until he decided to leave and join the military, which was filled with more battles than he was accustomed to, something that pleasured him greatly. With a smile coming over his face, he was holding himself back from reverting to his "battle mode" in this sort of crowd, it was something those who haven't seen battle not need see.

This is only for my own benefit but I have never heard about the Hensworth Family. Are they active in the military or are you the first to join?

"Thank you, it helps that I've trained for the military since I could walk. My father served in the military, made a noble for his service but he retired after losing a leg in battle. when I was born he wanted me to finish what he started, to achieve an even greater rank in society then even him."

Oscar chuckled saying that, listening to him talk about his family to an extent, he assumed in his head that his man must of came from the southen land mass. He had never heard of his family line, but then he never went into any slums, he'd lived most of his life in Pentdragon. though most of that time was spent in the desert however, but reguardless.

My Family isn't too well known, lower class nobles. we have some privliges but for the most part we're under the notice of most. I'm the second member to join and alot of pressure is on me to serve with distiction.

He should have figured, this person came from nobility, even if not that much but he still came from it. Rave didn't really dislike them but from what the man said about being under pressure to succeed, is what Rave disliked. For him people should be free to do what they wanted, kind of he reason he didn't like people ordering him around.

That is a problem being born into your position. You are partially forced to act in a certain way lest being looked down upon by all these nobles. And there is the whole disgracing your name if you don't succeed. Its un-needed pressure from those who know not of what goes on.

Rave's words were stern as they left him, and somewhat insulting to nobles who spent their entire lives in luxury. Concerning Oscar's situation, he need not try to live up to his father's name because such pressure would most likely collapse upon Oscar. Unfortunately if Rave was in the same situation, he could say he would most likely act the same way he does now but with slight changes. Rave released a breathe as this small rant brought him out of the state of mind he was going into only seconds ago.

It is good your continuing a legacy regardless. But things like who you know will only get you so far. In the end it comes down to your own skills.

It may have been Rave's personal belief and not really how the world worked but that is why he showed respect to only those who earned it to him. Fancy names or royal blood meant nothing to him if you didn't have the skills to back it up. Oscar probably did have them but just having a high score on an exam wasn't enough to make Rave show respect off the back, even though he is respectful for the most part until people try to order him.

He felt a slight change from Rave. Possibly a shift in opinion but reguardless, Oscar contuined.

"I was born into this, yes. I was also born into the military. My future was decided for me but I do not regret that  choice. I enjoyed my training and look forward to serving my country. As long as I don't die during my first engagement, I will do my family proud.

He retreived his drink and sipped from it, face frowning as it had lost its chill, but he contuined to drink it, not wanting to waste it.

Rave struck him as odd, yet grounded. He knew what he wanted from life and acted as he saw fit. Nothing could be gained from him easily, but earnt. For Oscar it was much the same, even if he was from a noble family, he'd earnt his place here. He wanted to earn his place in battle, to prove he was more then just a name.

The first engagement, that had been sometime ago for Rave and he was starting to forget, mainly because even if it was war he didn't enjoy escort missions. To add on to the boredom of that mission, he didn't even fight another Knightmare, only a few tanks. It was a real let down for him since he was hoping for some Knightmare versus Knightmare combat. On his last engagement he finally obtained what he was looking for, only to figure out the limitations of the mass produced Glasgow.

Well let me give you this advice. War isn't like training in anyway.

A large grin rose across his face. For him real war was exciting, that very rush of knocking on death's door at every moment was something Rave couldn't get staying around in Britannina. That pleasure he gained from the battlefield is the reason he is asking for the construction of his own Knightmare. With the Glasgow's limitations he wouldn't be able to fight how to his full potential but hopefully his new Knightmare, he might be able to or experience a new pleasure of battle.

Its much more exciting.

Not really a common thing to say about war, considering one could die at any moment, but that is what makes Rave unique. Or it maybe his lack of respect for authority, sometimes it becomes hard to tell for him. Not like he bothers thinking about it much as he already knows his own flaws, as others would call it while he doesn't.

Oscar gave the man a long look. He was honest about himself. He was a man who lived for war, for the thrill of it. Something that Oscar was inside, he had let to experience the thing he would undoubtabily come to love and crave. He cast his gaze downwards to his drink.

"I understand my training is not enough, that the fires of war is needed to tempt my soul into a blade worthy of bearing the crest of our nation. But my time will come, and I will relish in the hell that is war..."

He felt a grin seep onto his face. The war stories from his father gave him mearly images, but he craved for the true carnage of combat, on the ground, in a Knightmare. Britannia changed the face of warfare, made it all the more brutal, something he hoped to partake in, fequeently.

The Dance of Kings [PLOT/Open to all] Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Dance of Kings [PLOT/Open to all]   The Dance of Kings [PLOT/Open to all] EmptyMon Jul 08, 2013 2:06 am

Henry could feel the tension the longer he waited to come out. He was planning on waiting until everyone who was going to come would come. He felt like he gave everyone plenty of time to come, so now he was ready to make an appearance. First, he had to get there, so he was in a private plane. It is a little known fact that the royal family didn't actually live at the palace that everyone thought they lived at. Indeed, the palace was big, maybe even big enough to have its own economy, but it was too dangerous to live there. Especially now that Henry's father had died. This information wasn't given to any media yet, Henry himself planned to say it himself, it was his father after all. He knew that the back lash of this stunt could lead to the end of his short reign. In that case, assassins would now know who the current king was. All of this didn't matter to Henry, because he was ready to lead.

War was brewing and it was just around the corner, and now was a better time than never to make an appearance. His people would need him in the coming days, so he would have to be ready for anything that would be thrown his way. This was impossible of course, but it would be worth it in the long run to at least be already braced for impact. His plane drew near, and his most trusted advisors were on the plane with him. The whole time, they have been rambling amongst themselves about the near future. About what could possibly happen, and what they could do to help prevent it. Henry didn't care about anything they were talking about. Instead, he only focused on what he would say. He didn't prepare a speech of any kind, instead he wanted it all to come from the heart. He thought about his father, and what he would do in this instance, and how he would react to Henry not preparing a speech. He would probably have an heart attack, but Henry disregarded this thought.

The plane landed inside a cliff side hanger that could only be reached by plane. Not only that, but the royal plane was the only one to have clearance to enter. Any other vehicle of any kind would be shot down if they got too close. This would be highly unlikely as the royal plane was outfitted with the latest stealth gear. Not even the Britannian army knew about this technology. The royal plane was a closely guarded secret, one of the most guarded secrets of all time in Henry's opinion. Henry himself didn't even know about the plane until it was time to get on it. Henry had no idea what else the plane was capable of, but he doubted they would even need to use the other things the plane was capable of. The plane landed smoothly inside the cliff side hanger, without any problems. Henry was the first to leave the plane, and to walk down the stairs. Upon completely leaving the plane, he had to follow a strict path. Because the royal family didn't want any suspicions about where the money was going to fund the hanger, they only used a small amount at a time. In this way, along with some good accountants, they were able to do something like this.

The hanger itself wasn't even completed, so that was the main reason why he had to follow a strict path. Closely behind Henry, the advisors followed. They was only three of them, but they had been around since his father's reign as emperor. They followed the path until they came across a door. This door lead to nothing more than to a empty hallway with an elevator at the end. Henry and his advisors went into this elevator that took them to one floor below the house. At this underground floor, he was met with soldiers that escorted them to the next elevator nearby. This elevator led to the house, at which case they arrived at a beautiful hallway. This hallway was filled with paintings and the whole hallway was white, with some gold here and there. This hallway was huge, maybe big enough for two elephants to stand on top of each other. Henry walked down this hallway unimpressed by its beauty. He simply smirked and went on his way.

They went through a door on the left side of the hallway, that lead to them to the stage entrance. This is the stage where Henry would meet his people for the first time. Henry stood still for a second before walking through the door that lead to the stage. He didn't feel nervous at all, this is what his father prepared him for the whole time. He walked onto the stage, flashes of bright light shined across his face. He could hear as people took deep breaths as they watched Henry walk up to a podium that was set up just for this occasion. At the podium he could see everyone clearly, he could see the rich nobles. He could see the celebrities lucky enough to get an invitation to something like this. He could the media start to scramble with their cameras. Henry smiled for a brief moment before opening his mouth for the first time to let his people hear it. His was deep, and you could even hear the pride of being the emperor in his voice as he started off by saying four simple words.

The Emperor is dead.

Then Henry opened his mouth a second time to say a few more simple words before pausing to let the information sink in.

I am the new Emperor!

From Oscar's recent reply, Rave has figured that he has gotten a good assumption on him. Even though Oscar has been trained very well, from what he told Rave, he had no real reason to be on the battlefield. Yes, there was protecting his country and upholding his family's name, but it seemed to Rave that he had no personal reason to walk this path. One could say it was the same for Rave, as he joined the military to engage in war, but Rave's reasons for doing things were always simple, mainly doing them because he wants to. He didn't get that vibe from Oscar, but he could be wrong so he wasn't betting to much on this assumption.

Well I hope you enjoy your first experience.

He couldn't help but think about what kind of mission they would give Oscar. For war, there was the common escort missions, which Rave was assuming would be Oscar's first mission since he was fresh out to graduate. There was Rave's personal favorite, suppression missions, basically killing all the targets in the area with extreme prejudice. Along with many others from conquering enemy forts to protecting Britannina's own forts. Regardless of which would be his first, he would experience piloting a Knightmare if he hasn't had any at the moment.

The next second it was obvious to hear the room go quiet just after the sounds of lights flashing on, illuminating a person on the stage. For most formal parties that person would be their host for the evening or a person with some big news before the host made themselves known. Rave blinked a few times as his eyes shifted towards he man upon the stage waiting to see which person he could be, more so waiting to see what he has to say to this audience of royalty and military like. Even though for this occasion the thing to start with is the greeting of everybody, but with what was said from the man Rave couldn't help but be a little shocked.

Looks like we might be in store for some fun.

Rave may have been a jarhead, to say the least, but he was far from ignorant of political standings. With the death of the emperor, now previous emperor, the other two superpowers would start to move in an attempt to take advantage of the disorder which was soon to arise. Even if it was the correct strategy looking at it from a standard of war, looking at it from a citizen of Britannina's point of view, more accurately a solider's, the next couple of months, if that, would literally become a hell on earth. That was only the considering the outside forces, if inside forces were taken into account it would be hard to figure out who would actually be okay with these news.

Actually with the man's next announcement, Rave simple chuckled. He was under the assumption that everybody would be okay, not completely but they would be able to deal, with the emperor's death. But now with the proclamation of this man as the next emperor, Rave could easily guess that not everybody would be fine with this. Hell he didn't even know this person so he wasn't completely for this person as emperor. Rave wasn't a major threat though, if taken into account people of higher ranking taking these news the wrong way, the possibility of a coup becomes much more likely.

Oscar, the chances of your first mission now being a real fight for your life has drastically gone up.

The world was about to go through a critical change in power and Britannina would be taking center stage to it all. It would be a good chance to see what this new emperor is capable of, that is if he doesn't get overwhelmed with what is to come. Slamming on the table a large smile came across Rave's face. His love was starting to take over his mind as he started to laugh under his breath. War was more than right around the corner, it was down the street walking to Britannina's front door, in the form of both the Chinese Federation and the European Kingdom.

"Knowing my luck, it will be an escort mission, most likely a noble wanting to visit an outpost in Europe or China... no doubt I'd be seeing real combat until..."

Oscar started down that line of thinking, assuming he'd be wasted on guard duty, garrison duty in a secured area or even remaining here in Pentdragon, feeling completely useless. But the annoucement and revelation from the, recently declared, Emperor made him re-evaluate his future prospects.

"Maybe I spoke too soon... The wars on it's way here... or we're on our way there. Time to prove our worth to the Empire, right? I look forward to the day we might fight alongside one another, Be it on the ground, or in Knightmare frames."

He nodded to Rave, before downing his drink and setting the glass aside, He held out his hand, as a offer from one soldier to another, even if he was green.

"I hope not to die before getting that chance. Be it for Emperor, Country, family or ourselves. War is our business after all, and Business is good".
